The Technology Gap in Patient Safety

摘要

In a world of ever increasing technological advances, users of technology are at risk for exceeding human memory limitations. This paper reviews literature in the field of human error or specifically transition errors in emergency room (ER) operations. The review clearly indicates the need for better technology such as knowledge management or decision support systems in emergency rooms to reduce the potential for error resulting in increased patient safety.
