A Methodology to Increase Security in Wireless Networks

The transition to wireless network connections requires fundamental shifts in our communication protocols. We investigate the possible states of both the wireless network access points and the wireless networked computers may be in when connecting, disconnecting and reconnecting to each other. This information can be used to develop better algorithms. The states support development of more secure, reliable and user-friendly wireless networking. We discuss the weaknesses in the security mechanism within the IEEE standard and propose an approach that minimizes the risks and vulnerabilities associated with the wireless LAN's. The proposed connection scheme could provide inter-network migration.
