We propose a language by which users can organize documents into an user-specified tree with a brief and intuitive query input. In this language, a query is represented as a predicate, which is a logical expression consisting of primitive predicates and AND/OR operators. A primitive predicate is an arbitrary expression that has a value of true or false when a document is given, and is translated into a node of the tree. AND/OR operators have the same logical meanings to ones of a Boolean expression, and are translated into layering/branching of the tree. We have applied this language to local text file organization: email message refiling and personal restaurant guidebook publishing, and confirm that users can effectively construct user-specified trees in this language.
