The role of twing in high-T_c superconductors: are twins pinning sites or weak links?

The pinning force and corresponding peaked contribution to the critical current are calculated for an array of parallel twins treated as planar defects. The weak-link nature of twin boundaries is also taken into account. The features on the magnetization related to twins are discussed.
