Formation of carbonaceous deposit was found to be one of three phenomena (except sintering and reardation by water) sausing deactivation of the cbalt foil catalyst during hydrogenation of CO_2. The deposit characterisation by transient hyrogeneration performed at constant temperature or in temperature program provieed determination of its two boundary forms differing in activity. In the relatively narrow parameter window (T, p_H2O, H_2/CO_2 ratio), where the deposit formation predominates, the experimental basis for the verification of the deactivation model was obtained. The prrameters of the final model were consistent with available experimental data.
