Preparative Scale Separation of Ethyl Esters of Diethylenetriaminepentaacetic Acid by Flash Chromatography

The esters of DTPA were purified by the step elution method in gram scale quantities. The stability studies indicate that the hydrolysis of the esters in PBS is unlikely the mechanism of ester cleavage in vivo, and enzymatic cleavage likely causes the conversion of C2E5 to de-esterified metabolites, including DTPA.
