This study presents a strategy for the validation of component-based applications in the presence of faults. Faults are introduced during execution time by Jaca, a tool specifically designed for the injection of faults in OO applications written in Java. The component used in our tests is Ozone Database Management System (ODBMS). As target application we utilized an ODBMS performance test benchmark, Wisconsin 007, which acted as an activator of the injected faults. The experiments described in this study aimed to verify the efficiency of Ozone's error detection and recovery mechanisms in the presence of faults originated from the application. They also aimed to verify Jaca's validity and its ability to inject faults in objects' attributes and methods. Moreover, improvement suggestions for Jaca were addressed as a result of the experiments carried out.
