Previous research indicated that the human brain is sensitive to the valence difference in emotionally negative stimuli, and this sensitivity enhanced as the valence increased. Nevertheless, Dose the cognitive processing under the influence of emotion can vary with valence strength in the same way? This issue has yet to be directly investigated. The present study investigated the interaction between emotion and cognition by using cue-target paradigm. Cues consisted of three kinds of pictures, which were neutral, moderately negative (MN) and highly negative (HN) pictures. The target was a natural scene of cup. The results shows that cue-evoked ERPs enhanced amplitude elicited by HN relative to neutral and MN conditions in frontal area.
