Introduction Pd based systems are the catalysts of choice for the abatement of CH4 emissions from natural gas vehicles (NGVs). Factors controlling the CH4 combustion activity are still controversial: time-dependent activation phenomena under reaction conditions were reported, involving Pd surface reconstruction, removal of Cl-contaminants, metal-support interaction [1]. In this work a conditioning process, consisting in CH4-containing alternated redox cycles, was studied over Pd/Al2O3 catalysts with different Pd loading.
