In this study the special principle of flame stabilization in porous media is explained and adopted for the H_2/Cl_2-combustion, which is one of the most reactive systems and stabilization is usually performed in diffusion flames. The porous burner technology is applied and allows the stabilization in the premixed mode, which is unique in H_2/Cl_2 combustion and offers the advantages of lower necessary H_2-excess and a more compact combustion chamber. The porous burner technology is also tested in laboratory scale for the incineration of CCl_4 in premixed CH4/Air flames. The first results are presented and show the ability to destroy CCl_4, which is diluted in air. CCL_4 is chosen as an example of ChloroFluoroCarbons (CFC). Also, high rates in the same range of conventional CFC-crackers are pyrolysed in this burner, although the residence time is significantly lower than in free flame burners. The results demonstrate the wide range of applicability of porous medium combustion in the field of hot gas phase reactions.
