A field experiment was conclude during 1997 to 2001 at Sehore to study the direct effect of sulphur in plant and ratoon with the residual effects obtained from the sulphur applied in plant cane on sugar yield, available S status, nutrient uptake and balance studies of sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.). The tesults of the experiments showed that the sugarcane crop responded significantly in terms of sugar yield, S status in soil and N K uptake upto 60 kg S/ha. The S and P uptake by plants significantly increased upto 80 kg S/ ha in both plant and ratoon crops. The highest built-up of sulphur in soilafter harvest of crop was recoreded at 80 kg S/ha.
