The implementation strategy of active suspension of vehicles can be mainly divided into two kinds. The first kind is called fully active suspension system, the second is called bandwidth-limit active suspension system. The main characteristic of fully active suspension system is that the actuator is parallel connected to the traditional suspension system, and the actuator of bandwidth-limit active suspension system is installed in series connection to the traditional suspension system. The differences between the two constructions result in different characteristics. In this paper, a quarter car fully active suspension model and bandwidth-limit active suspension model are both established, by means of optimal linear quadratic regular design method, a practical PID controller is derived. Through a hydroelectric servo vibrating system, the dynamic response characteristics of fully active suspension system and bandwidth-limit active suspension system are systematically tested and analyzed. This can be a grate help to the practical design of an active suspension system, and the testing results are also given out.
