Lessons learned from MONJU sodium leak accident

MONJU sodium leak accident was a small accident with a large public: impact. There was no injures or exposure to radiation, nor was there any loss of safety function such as reactor shutdown or reactor cooling. On the contrary a, social impact is considerably large, whereby the plant, remains shutdown. This paper describes the lessons learned from the accident, i.e. the impact of the accident and its cause, and the features on risk management in view of social aspect as well as technical aspect.
