The followings are found in the determination of SILs: 1. It is possible to determine the SIL for the total system by FTA. 2. It is possible to consider the total system as a safety related system in continuous operation. 3. FTA is recommended to use, but the simplified method is not. 4. The approach to consider common use can also be applied for common cause failure of BPCS and PS.
