A Look Behind the Boiler Water Treatment Guidelines - Comments on Present and Possible Future Practice

The present VGB and EPRI guidelines recommend the application of several boiler water treatments for drum boilers in both utilities and industry. The in-situ (at temperature) operational environments in drum boiler systems are calculated for different boiler water treatments using physical chemistry and chemical thermodynamic principles. The solubility of magnetite and the boiler water specification are discussed. Particular attention is paid to the boiler water treatment in combined cycle plants.
