TU-BERLIN TO SPACE - A STUDENT INITIATIVE TO IMPROVE SPACE RELATED EDUCATION IN BERLIN

TU-Berlin to Space is a student initiative to improve outreach and interdisciplinary cooperation in the field of space at the Technische Universitat Berlin (TU-Berlin). In a first step two studies were performed to analyze the current situation. Aim of the first study was to figure out possibilities for cooperation in the field of space at TU-Berlin. In a series of interview 60 professors and assistant professors were interviewed and potential fields of cooperation could be identified. The aim of the second study was to figure out the attitude of the students towards astronautics at TU-Berlin. Cornerstone of this study was a poll among 550 randomly selected students. It could be shown that despite its reputation among experts the recognition of astronautics among students of TU-Berlin is very low. Therefore this study leads the way to possible improvements of the existing outreach.
