Winder Upgrades on the Run

There are a number of different approaches that can be taken when undertaking a winder upgrade that encompasses both mechanical and electrical components. With careful planning and an open consultative approach between customer and supplier a staged upgrade of winder drives and controls are not only possible, but can be preferable to the alternatives. The smooth transition to the new state-of-the-art drives and controls and the successful installation of the soft Multidrive drums has resulted in a superior roll structure, winder runnability and a 2% productivity increase through an increase in roll density. Our experience is that through a careful staged approach, much can be achieved with limited risk and minimal downtime.
