THE MOON IS ANGRY - THE ASTRONOMY AND SPACE SCIENCES FOR A YOUNG AUDIENCE

The planetarium show "The Moon is Angry", in the original: "Zanga da Lua", was developed by Fundacao Navegar. The main mission of Fundacao Navegar, a non-profit organization, is the scientific popularization, namelly in Astronomy. The foundation has worked for nearly 4 years and has developed several actions with schools all over the nation: production and exhibition of planetarium shows, tematic exibithions, public astronomy observations, training of teachers and students, etc. Using animation characters and technics we aimed to reach a younger audience (kindergarten and early scholar years) and to pass on basic concepts of Astronomy (mainly Solar System), Space Sciences and environment protection. The creation and prodution of this show involved more than 10 diferent areas experts, between scriptwriters, drawers, designers, animators, actors, sound engineers, original music score producer and astronomers. Several animation technics are present in this show, like 2D and 3D video and static images, complemented with an original sound score, specially composed for this show. The results are enthusiastics, more than 15000 childrens have seen the show, showing the importance of using this kind of equipment, planetariums, for best results in the popularization of astronomy and space sciences.
