Sweetening Process Foaming and Abatement Part II: Case Studies

It was established in part Ⅰ, that the contaminants that cause amine solvent foaming were incorporated in the foam itself. A device was constructed that used a nonoxidizing gas to concentrate the foaming contaminants, separate the foamate from the amine, and collect it for discharge and analysis. Part Ⅱ of this study describes the field results from using this device in gas plant and refinery applications. Descriptions of the plant problems, and how the device performed in each case are reported.
