The mastitis disease had brought great harm to the dairy cows and seriously impacted the milk quality in animal husbandry.In previous study,researchers had inferred the mastitis disease was closely related with the intestinal microbiota.In this cross-sectional study,we designed three groups containing mastitis cows (n=20),healthy control (n=20) and extra risk group (n=20).The taxonomic structure of the intestinal microbiota was determined by 16S rRNA gene pyrosequencing,and the functional profile of the corresponding microbiome was determined by shotgun metagenomic sequencing.An apparent clustering pattern was identified for the mastitis cows from control group,which indicated a significant changes in taxonomic structure and functional feature in gut microbiota of mastitis cows.And analysis based on metagenomic species revealed the Prevotella sp.,Faecalibacterium prausnitzii and Lactobacillus sp.were decreased in the cows with mastitis.Further analysis of functional features highlighted the disorder in butanoate metabolism,epithelial cell signaling in helicobacter pylori infection and two-component system in the intestinal microbiota of mastitis cows.Based on these different microbial features,we identified 10mastitis microbial biomarkers to develop a predictive model for improving the sensitivity of cow mastitis diagnosis.By evaluating the performance of this predictive model in the training and an extra risk group(n=20),we confirmed its feasibility with sensitivity reached up to 92.14%.
