This study focuses on finding relationship between vertical air temperature gradients and local thermal sensation. Following results were found based on experiments conducted on people whose life style is traditional Korean mode, i.e. sitting-on-floor instead of western mode of sitting-on-chair. Experiment conditions were controlled to produce vertical air temperature difference of 0,4℃, 2.0℃:, 4.0℃ and 6.0℃ within the environment of air velocity less than 0.1m/s and clothing insulation values of 0.6℃ while t_a equals MRT. Whole body thermal sensation, air temperature by each height from the floor, vertical air temperature gradients, and local thermal sensation were included for multiple regression analysis to predict local thermal sensation where vertical air temperature gradients occur. The results showed high correlation in predicting thermal sensation around knees and feet.
