To improve the ballistic performance of kinetic energy penetrators, high strength tungsten-fiber reinforced metal matrix composites were manufactured by melt infiltration. The content of tungsten fibers were varied in the range of 25 percent to about 91 percent tungsten. Cu-2 percentBe - alloy was used as matrix material.
