Patent Claim Processing for Readability- Structure Analysis and Term Explanation -

Patent corpus processing should be centeredrnaround patent claim processing becausernclaims are the most important partrnin patent specifications. It is common thatrnclaims written in Japanese are described inrnone sentence with peculiar style and wordingrnand are difficult to understand for ordinaryrnpeople. The peculiarity is caused byrnstructural complexity of the sentences andrnmany difficult terms used in the description.rnWe have already proposed a frameworkrnto represent the structure of patentrnclaims and a method to automatically analyzernit. We are currently investigating arnmethod to clarify terms in patent claimsrnand to find the explanatory portions fromrnthe detailed description part of the patentrnspecifications. Through both approaches,rnwe believe we can improve readability ofrnpatent claims.
