Introduction Small intestine is the main organ to digest starch and its starch utilization efficiency is 42% higher than by rumen.As a substrate for protein synthesis,leucineis also a nutrient signal to regulate protein synthesis.Studies showed that leucine supplement decreased the activity and mRNA expression of α-amylase in rats (Hashimoto et al.,2004),but could stimulate the secretion of pancreatic α-amylase (Yu et al.,2011).This study evaluated the effects of duodenal leucine infusion on pancreatic exocrine function of dairy cow.
