FORENSIC ANALYSIS OF ELECTRIC MACHINES

A tremendous amount of time, productivity and production can be lost using improper troubleshooting and evaluation techniques. In this presentation, Dr. Penrose will provide examples of ineffective traditional troubleshooting, sometimes referred to as 'root-cause,' and effective forensic analysis of machines using PROACT Root-Cause-Failure-Analysis (RCFA) techniques. Case studies include: wind energy generators; broken shafts on direct drive machines with variable frequency drives; and, lubrication.
