A new method for low-drag high-lift systemrndesign based on viscous flow solvers wasrndeveloped for Supersonic CommercialrnTransport wings within the EC research projectrnEPISTLE. Two high-lift systems werernmanufactured for a large-scale wind tunnelrnmodel. The numerically predicted dragrnreductions (20% compared to a datum system)rnwere fully confirmed by high Reynolds numberrntests. These drag reductions lower the lowspeedrnnoise for future SCT configurations byrnmore than 4 EPNDB.
