摘要

Efficient multi-resolution image fusion aims to takernadvantage of the high spectral resolution of Landsat TM imagesrnand high spatial resolution of SPOT panchromatic imagesrnsimultaneously. This paper presents a multi-resolution datarnfusion scheme, based on multirate image representation. Motivatedrnby analytical results obtained from high-resolution multispectralrnimage data analysis: the energy packing the spectralrnfeatures are distributed in the lower frequency bands, and thernspatial features, edges, are distributed in the higher frequencyrnbands. This allows to spatially enhancing the multispectralrnimages, by adding the high-resolution spatial features to them,rnby a multirate filtering procedure. The proposed method isrncompared with some conventional methods. Results show itrnpreserves more spectral features with less spatial distortion.
