摘要

Transonic and supersonic flow simulations overrntypical launch vehicle configurations are presented.rnA 3-D finite difference numerical code,rnwritten for general, curvilinear, body-conformingrncoordinate systems, is used. The code solves thernthin-layer approximation for the laminar NavierStokes equations. Simulations are performedrnfor a launcher and a sounding rocket configurations,rncurrently under development at IAE.rnCalculations consider cases at angle of attackrnand at various freestream Mach numbers. Normalrnforce coefficients are obtained such that thernloads required for the design phase can be determined.rnComputational results are comparedrnto available experimental data. In general, goodrnresults within engineering error margins are obtained.
