Poly (L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) has promising properties for bone tissue engineering application due to its good biocompatibility, adjustable degradation rate and attractive mechanical properties. However, PLGA does not provide ligands for cell-receptors, as the majority of artificial biomaterials. For this reason its surface properties are not optimal for biological interactions. Different modification strategies creating optimally suited surface properties for cell adhesion have been widely investigated [1,2]. The application of extracellular matrix (ECM) components demonstrated to be particularly promising thanks to its ability to mimic natural environment of the cells [2]. In animal experiments it has been shown that surface modification of titanium-based implants by immobilization of ECM components enhanced bone regeneration [3].
