BEST-PRACTICE ANALYSIS AND STAKEHOLDER ASSESSMENT IN SUPPORT OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF A EUROPEAN BIO-BASED PRODUCT PROCUREMENT AND INFORMATION TOOL

The paper presents the results of research carried out in the frame of the EU FP7 project Open-Bio torndevelop a European bio-based product database supporting procurement. A mapping exercise showed the state-ofthe-rnart approach to product databases for bio-based products. Broad stakeholder consultation identified informationrnrequirements on bio-based products among businesses, public procurers and consumers. Results were used to developrna draft database concept which was tested by key stakeholders. Prospects on the final database are also presented. It isrnconcluded that product information for public procurers needs to combine the fact that a product is bio-based withrnfeatures which show the functional or/and environmental advancement of such a product compared to conventionalrnsolutions.
