摘要

Lanthanide substitute ceria materials show a particular combination of high oxygen-ion mobility, redox catalytic properties and chemical compatibility with water and carbon dioxide at high temperatures This peculiarity makes them suitable candidates for a large number of applications in solid oxide fuel cells/electrolyzers, membrane science and catalysis. Current ceria based membranes show a limited oxygen flux but exhibit a very high resistance against carbonation and poisoning with S-containing compounds. This properties are expect to be very beneficial for membrane operation using CO_2-rich stream s as sweep gas (Oxyfuel power plants) or for catalytic membrane operation using very low oxygen partial pressure, hydrocarbon-based streams.
