The pollution of the environment surrounding the motor traffic roads is a very important issue in the policy of sustainable transport development and ecological safety of automobile transport. This particularly applies to urban areas with extensive road infrastructure. Air pollution in cities with gases and particulates hazardous to human health that are generated as a part of linear emission can be dominant compared to the emission of other emitters. This article presents the research aimed at determining the distribution of NOx nitrogen oxides concentration in the vicinity of the road. The research included the identification of road conditions and atmospheric factors favouring the occurrence of maximum concentrations in the specified surroundings of Krakowska Street in the city of Kielce in Poland. The concentration of NOx nitrogen oxides was calculated using a modified model of the dispersion of gaseous pollutants emitted by vehicles based on the Gaussian dispersion model.
