70 Years of Russian Computer Science

摘要

This article is devoted to the dramatic history of birth of the Soviet electronic computers. The central place is occupied by the history of creation of the first Soviet electronic computer M1 under the leadership of Isaac Brook. This computer was created in Moscow in the Energetic Institute of the Academy of Sciences by a small team of young engineers, students and technicians. Their further creative path is traced. Three of them later became general designers of the most powerful Soviet computers: Mikhail Kartsev, Nikolai Matyukhin, Yuri Rogachev. Tamara Alexandridi, Alexander Zalkind, Rene Shidlovsky, Julius Schrader became famous scientists. Julius Schrader later became also a well-known Catholic theologian.
