Comparative research between Japan and Thailand: A comparison of work motivation among young human resources

The objective of this study is to investigate the work motivation of young human resources in Japan and Thailand. The difference of work attitude and motivation between Japan and Thailand were investigated by factor analysis. The participants were 100 Thai students from Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology and 100 Japanese students from Chiba Institute of Technology. The previous research showed that the factors which increase motivation of Thai and Japanese are different. In this study, the hypothesis intended to showed the motivation of Thai people was increased by extrinsic factors, such as rewards and punishments. However, it was found that the intrinsic factors for work motivation were more effective than extrinsic factors. Extrinsic factors were effective for the motivation for both Thai and Japanese. On the contrary, it can be supported that there are significant different between the purpose of work and work styles. It was considered that the different visions of their future work and social labor environment would be the cause of this difference.
