This paper presents the design of Switched Capacitor Array (SCA) based low voltage and low phase noise differential Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO). Based on TSMC 0.18μm CMOS technology, schematic of the circuit with CADENCE environment has been designed. A sizing method is proposed to meet the requirement of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth standards. Circuit topology is a differential PMOS-NMOS core cross coupled LC-tank VCO. The simulation results manifested that the proposed VCO exhibits wide tuning range up to maximum frequency of 6.1GHz and phase noise performance of 113.4 dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset frequency has been accomplished. The power consumption of the design is 12.2 mW.
