The CTD which stands for “Conductivity-Temperature-Depth” is one of the most used instruments for the oceanographic measurements. MEMS based CTD sensor components consist of a conductivity sensor (C), temperature sensor (T) and a piezo resistive pressure sensor (D). CTDs are found in every marine related institute and navy throughout the world as they are used to produce the salinity profile for the area of the ocean under investigation and are also used to determine different oceanic parameters. This research paper provides the design, fabrication and initial test results on a prototype CTD sensor.
