Heat distribution, generation and transmission has been the subject matter since decades in any electrical apparatus. As it is known that dissipation of heat along with generation of heat is important in the distribution of heat in the system consequently the efficient operation of electrical apparatus. Many investigations have experimented to ascertain optimal heat dissipation and hence to optimize efficiency and functioning of electrical equipment. In this direction studies are conducted on epoxy coated Busbar system containing Busbar system. The actual studies are conducted on typical actual size of Busbar system of rating 2000A. The busbars are coated with epoxy with latest technique of powder coating. The busbars then enclosed in metallic cover completely over the length of busbars. Three phases of busbars along with neutral are employed in the Busbar system. A rated current of 2000A is employed to study thermal performance by studying heat distribution along length of Busbars inside the enclosure. A precision method of measurement of temperatures at all points in the electrical equipments is studied in established thermal equilibrium conditions. Several sections of Busbar are studied, to understand the distribution of heat by different process such as conduction, convection and radiation. The paper presents experimental arrangement on actual size electrical equipment, method of measurement besides results and discussions. The epoxy coating of insulation on busduct determines heat distribution and thermal class. The coating also acts as source / sink of heat in the system and assists in the uniform thermal distribution along the gradient of Busbars enclosed in the busduct system. The results are presented in this paper.
