The International Energy Agency released a publication that estimated that existing buildings are responsible for more than 40% of the world's total primary energy consumption and for 24% of global carbon dioxide emissions. NZEBs can be seen as the cornerstone of effective CO2 emissions reduction and the major driver for community participation in saving the planet. The intention of this paper is to highlight the definition of NZEBs, discuss the Lebanese situation in this concern, and explore the possible application of NZEBs in Lebanon. The problematic of the practical part in this thesis is to check the possibility and feasibility of applying the net zero energy concepts in Lebanon and accordingly set minimum requirements for the application of NZEBs in Lebanon in the future. For this purpose, we have used thermal standard compliance software TSBC, weather data software METEONORM, Solar Water Heaters Simulation software T-Sol, Photovoltaic Simulation software PV-Sol, and building energy simulation software Designbuilder.
