To Study the Absolute and Relative Fecundity of Cirrhinus Mrigala in Relation to Body Weight by Using Ovaprim - C

In this study absolute, no. of eggs kg-1, fertilization percentage and hatching rate has been evaluated by using single intramuscular injection of commercial product Ovaprim-C on Mrigal, Cirrhinus mrigala, for commercial production of fish fry. Fishes were spawned successfully with 0.4 mL/kg of Ovaprim-C for female during the course of spawning season. Ovulation was observed 100%, fertilization 81.61% and hatching 81.92% during experimental trials. Regression analysis was also applied which reveals no. of eggs correlate positively (r =0.956 ***) while no. of eggs kg'1 remains fairly constant (r=0.310n.s) as the wet body weight of brood fish increases. Considerable accuracy of absolute fecundity can be predicted which is highly significant (p<0.001).
