A facile and effective one-pot coprecipitation of iron (II) and (III) chlorides, in the presence of graphene oxide (GO), resulted in the fabrication of the magnetite-graphene oxide hybrid nanoparticles (GO@NanoFe3O4). Loading of the latter into polystyrene (PS) through in situ emulsion polymerization afforded a novel nanocomposite of polystyrene (GO@NanoFe3O4/PS). The attachment of Fe3O4 nanoparticles (Nps) on the GO nanosheet surface and loading of GO@NanoFe3O4 on PS were confirmed by XRD, TEM, and TGA analysis. The TEM analysis showed Fe3O4 Nps with 14nm size evenly spread over the GO nanosheets and GO@NanoFe3O4/PS nanocomposite.
