CBD (Component Based Development) methodology is arncost effective software development paradigm in whichrnencapsulated software modules are assembled via interfacernto perform required functions. The CBD process directlyrnapplicable to general software development projects inrnconjunction with UML (Unified Modeling Language) basedrnOOD (object-oriented development) methodology. However, rnspecial projects, such as war game simulators development, rnmay not directly employ the OOD methodology within thernprocess due to limitation in modeling power for war gamerncomponents as discrete event systems. This paper presentsrnemployment of DEVS (Discrete Event SystemsrnSpecification) methodology for development of war gamernsimulators using the CBD process. Embedment of thernDEVS methodology is not replacement, but complement ofrnthe UML-based OOD methodology. Case study forrndevelopment of a war game simulator using the DEVSrnembedded CBD process will be discussed.
