Refined Modeling of a Modern Disk Drive System

The performance of disk system is critical to thernoverall system performance. In order to maximize thernperformance of disk I/O, it is necessary to understandrnaccurately the characteristics of the disk system. Wernpropose a refined model of disk I/O operations basedrnon the characteristics of present day disks and presentrnexperimental results supporting the model. To modelrna modern disk system, we extract the features of modernrnSCSI disk drives. Our work can be applied tornvarious studies based on disk storage systems.
