This paper presents the design and the fabrication of a dual-polarized patch antenna fed by two coplanar waveguides (CPW) for operation around a center frequency of 2.45 GHz. In order to achieve an inductive coupling with the radiating patch, each CPW line is ended with a perpendicular slot of λs/4 in length, where λs is the wavelength on the substrate. Results show that an impedance bandwidth of 40MHz (1.63%) is obtained using a single layer of substrate. The simulated return loss for both polarizations is less than −40 dB and isolation between ports is better than −22 dB. For validation purposes, a prototype of the antenna and experimental results are also presented.
