Recent incidents within our National Marine Sanctuaries andrnthroughout our country have directed the National Oceanic andrnAtmospheric Administration to begin to look proactively at catastrophicrnoil and other chemical releases from submerged sources.rnIntegrating data from several federal, state, and private sources,rnthe Resources and UnderSea Threats (RUST) database was developedrnto inventory and determine through analysis the scope of thisrnpotential threat. Although this tool was developed initially for usernby sanctuary resource protection managers, its application has ap-rnapplicabilityrnto the broader response community.
