Using Simulation to Evaluate the Expansion of Terminal and Intermodal Operations at a Deepwater Port

This paper presents a simulation model to evaluate the expansion of the container and intermodal operations at the Alabama State Docks in Mobile, Alabama. The simulation was used to verify container inbound and outbound estimates and to assure sufficient resources to meet anticipated demand. The simulation was written in ProcessModel. Included in the paper are a description of the simulation model, the results of the preliminary analysis and conclusions.
