People are exposed to electromagnetic fields from Various sources in daily life. Among those sources transportation systems generate complex magnetic fields with static and time-varying components. However, we do not know what effect on living bodies could exist due to exposure to such complex fields. The purpose of this study is to develop exposure setups for in vitro experiments on biological effects caused by complex magnetic fields with static and time-varying components. Complex exposure setups are composed of a super-conducting magnet (Fig. 1) for static field, and coils placed inside the super-conducting magnet for sinusoidally time-varying field (AC field). The magnetic flux from the AC-field coils cannot penetrate into the super-conducting magnet because of perfect diamagnetism of the super-conducting magnet. Therefore the magnetic field created by the AC-field coils placed inside the super-conducting magnet is different from that produced by the same AC-field coils placed in free space. In this report, lime-varying magnetic field distributions in the bore of super-conducting magnet are investigated by numerical analyses.
