The sinter diffusion bonding technique is based on the same theory of that of the general diffusion bonding technique of metals. To create the pressure which is needed to make close enough for atomic diffusion to each other between both surfaces to be bonded, the differences of dimensional changes during sintering between both materials and the fit clearance of assembled components are most important factors. By choosing the material combinations according to the dilatometric curves and interference fit clearance, many types of ferrous green compacts can be diffusion bonded with both of green compacts and wrought steel parts.
