By means of contrast, using chemical analysis, surface morphology analysis and mensuration of activity ofrnmicroorganism and so on techniques, the surface characteristic of activated carbon fiber and oxidized activated carbon fiberrnwhich were used as biofilm carrier and effects of surface characteristic of carrier on activity of biofilm and activity andrnmultiplication of microorganism in active sludge were systematically studied and reported firstly. The emphasis is to seernabout the effects of surface functional groups of fiber、specific surface area、wettability and so on surface characteristic onrnactivity of biofilm and activity and multiplication of microorganism in active sludge. Results show that :( 1) Improvingrncharacterization of adsorption of carbon fiber is beneficial to fix microorganism on the surface; increasing specific surfacernarea of ACF is beneficial to enhance activity of microorganism on the surface. (2)In comparison with other organic polymerrnmaterial, carbon fiber is able to promote microorganism to grow. (3)Increasing surface wettability and some acid functionalrngroups of carbon fiber can help microorganism on the surface of carrier to grow.
