By means of contrast, using chemical analysis, surface morphology analysis and biological compatibitityrncharacterization and so on techniques, the surface characteristic of activated carbon fiber and oxidized activated carbon fiberrnwhich were used as biofilm carriers and effects of that on immobilization of microorganism were systematically studied andrnreported firstly. The emphasis is to see about effects of surface functional groups of fiber、specific surface area、wettabilityrnand so on surface characteristic on immobilization of microorganism. Results showed that:(1)The characterization ofrnadsorption of carbon fiber has an effect up on microorganism to fix initially, ACF which has high specific surface area is tendrnto fix microorganism more easily.(2)The increase of some acid functional groups and surface wettability of carbon fiber isrnprone to fixing microorganism on the surface of carrier.(3)Carbon fiber, especially activated carbon fiber has more excellentrnbiological compatibitity than organic macromolecule material which is on sale. The former speed of immobilization ofrnmicroorganism is as 4-16 times as that of the latter.
