Carbon nanofibers (CNFs) were prepared at low temperature (350 ~ 600oC) from ethylene-hydrogen mixture using Fe-rnNi alloys supported on carbon black (CB). The production yield of the alloy catalyst was remarkably improved by support onrnCB. The diameter of produced CNFs decreased to 5 ~ 30 nm range. Fe-Ni (3:7) or Fe-Ni (4:6) catalysts, which were reportedrnto give little conversion of ethylene to CNFs when unsupported, were found by supporting on CB to produce 60 ~ 80 mgrnCNFs per 1 mg alloy from C2H4/H2 (4:1) at 480oC for 1 h.
